Rise and Shine
Every morning when we get up, we start our day by listening to Drew's favorite song: Rise and Shine (Arky Arky). I even made up some little movements to it. Drew laughs and kicks along to the music. This is one of my favorite times every day :0) Please excuse my silly singing...
Kicking like crazy!!
Aunt Erin came over to hang out with us yesterday. We had so much fun. Drew is really into kicking right now. Everytime you lay her down- she kicks like crazy (see video). She has also been moving her mouth and trying to make sounds come out (so cute!!!!).

My favorite girls:

Anna and Lesley have been getting lots of practice! Anna is going to make such a great mom one day when God sees fit to start their family. She is my "baby sitter" during Sunday School. She is so great with Drew! Lesley is about to become a mommy. Baby Creed should be here 6/3/09! We can't wait!! Lesley has been coming over and helping with Drew from time to time. She even changed Drew's diaper the other day (her 1st one!!)-lol

Update
I haven't had much time to get on here and write lately (since I have been back to work), so I thought I would give you all an update. At Drew's 2 month appointment she weighed 10lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. She is now in the 25th percentile for weight and height. She got all her vaccinations- 3 shots and one by mouth. She did really well- no fever or redness- she was just very fussy for a few days. The doctor switched her formula once again. She is now on a hypo-allergenic formula called Nutramigen. Matt calls it liquid gold- since it comes in a gold can and costs so much ( $22 a can that lasts her 3 days). She is doing soooo much better on it though, so it is worth every penny!!
Drew loves Jeff Buckley
Sorry it's sideways. I caught Drew smiling while I was listening to Jeff Buckley this AM

Drew rolled over!!
Yesterday at 7wks and 5 days....Drew rolled over! She was laying on her belly on her playmat and rolled from her belly to her back. I tried to download the video multiple times, but can't get to load....Sorry....
I had her to the doctor's office today (for a rash) and she weighed 9 lbs 9 oz!! I measured her and got 21 1/2 inches long (not sure how accurate that was though). Next Friday she goes for her 2 month check up and her 1st set of shots :0(

Silly (crying) Drew
Matt and I always laugh at Drew...when she gets fussy, she says "ooh-ghee". We tease and say that it is her first word. Granny says it is because I call her "Mommy's boogie" all the time. She kept saying it over and over last night. We finally caught it on video (even tough it's not that good).

1 month check up
Drew went to the doctor yesterday for her one month check up. She was 8lbs 7oz and 20 1/4 inches long. The doc said she is in the 10th percentile for height and 20th percentile for weight- I guess she is just going to be petite!! She did said that for her height, her weight is good, she's not too chunkie...lol She said that Drew does not have colic, like we thought she might have. She said that we may be feeding her too much, causing her upset tummy. She said that we should not feed her more often then every 3-4 hours and to continue giving her 3-4 oz- no more. She said that her tummy is still very little since she is so small and that anything over 4 oz may be too much at this point. We don't go back to the docs until next month when she will get her first set of shots :0( Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially since I will be returning to work in a very short week and a half :0(

Drew's first Easter was yesterday. Pap and Granny came down and we all went to church. This was Drew's first time at church. She was an angel! She slept the entire time, only woke up before Sunday School when she was hungry, then back to sleep. After church Matt's dad joined us for Easter dinner (Matt's mom had the flu). We had a great dinner: ham, chicken casserole, mashed potatoes, veggies, sweet potato casserole, rolls, cherry cheesecake, hot fudge cake, etc. Later in the day, aunt Erin came by for a visit. Matt's cousin David and his girlfriend Carrie and her daughter Mackinzie also came by later in the day. All in all...it was a great day!!

Drew is 3 weeks old

Hi everyone! I just wanted to write everyone and send out some new pics of the little muchkin. She turned 3 wks old yesterday. This is somewhat sad for me since that means I have to go back to work in 3 more weeks. It is going to be so hard to leave her!! Drew is doing much better! No more bili light or heel sticks! She is so much more alert. I did make the decision this week that since she still was not nursing (still not sucking properly) and I was still having to pump and bottle feed her, that she is now a formula baby. It was a very hard decision for me to make (especially since I am so pro breastfeeding) , but in the end I know we will all be happier! Someone very wise told me that Happy mommy= happy baby! And man were they right!!! She already seems to be doing so much better. She sleeps more sound and eats about every 3-4 hrs. I think she is finally starting to gain weight, or atleast her clothes are fitting her better. Anyway, I will quit rambling on about her...Hope you all enjoy the pics!
Much love,
Britt

1st enjoyable bathtime

This evening Matt and I decided to give Drew a bath. This was a milestone for her: Her 1st enjoyable bathtime. She just sat there all wide eyed and didn't cry. Pay close attention to the pics after bathtime...Our little baby bird (aka bir head, which Daddy was also known as for the 1st year of his life) Drew's hair stands on end after a bath. Mommy even got a pic of Drew with her new shades on...

2 WKS OLD

Guess who's 2 wks old today! Drew is doing much better. She finally came off her bili light yesterday. Wow! what a difference a day off the light can make. She is so much more alert! She has to have her bilirubin checked again on Monday just to make sure it is ok. She still is not nursing, so I continue to pump and bottle feed her. We are letting her wake up on her own now to eat, and she normally eats every 3 hours. At her doctor's appt yesterday she was 7 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long! She is really growing! Hope everyone is well and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers (we really need them right now!)

Britt

Drew Elizabeth Ross born 3/14/09 at 12:51pm. 6 lbs 12oz 18 3/4 in long.
Short birth story:
Went in a 5:30am on Sat 3/14/09 with contractions. They decided to keep me. Dilated to 4cm. Monitored for a while. Checked and I was at 6cm. Broke my water, and called for an epidural. Contractions came hard and fast then. Epidural attempted without success d/t my scoliosis. Severe contractions- dilated to 8 1/2cm. Had to decide if I wanted them to try epidural again or get Stadol. Epidural attempted again without success (6 times total). They checked me and I was at 9 1/2cm. Guess what--you are going to do this ALL NATURAL--What?????????? Yep. Pushed for 35 min and she was out!
She is absolutely beautiful and perfect! She is having trouble breastfeeding because she has trouble sucking and my milk hasn't come in yet. We found out that she is A+ blood type and I guess this doesn't mix well with me being O+ so my body attacked her red blood cells causing her to have jaundice (positive Coombs test)--go figure!!!! Anyway, she has to stay under the bili light tent as much as possible and they are rechecking her bilirubin this morning. If it is ok, then we ALL get to go home today, if not she will have to stay her under the light until it comes down. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! God is good...all the time! And all the time...God is good!
Love,
Britt, Matt and baby Drew
